Recent email to Yvonne: In high school I had my own personal copy of Encyclopedia Britannica.
AND I WAS A REGULAR READER OF SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN and otther science publications of that time.
The Google of its day.
AND I WAS A REGULAR READER OF SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN and otther science publications of that time.
From a high school chemistry mag I learned how to make plastics with formaldehyde and a hot copper wire.
And on and on it went.
In my senior year I won the school writing award for a single page essay on a potential new form of laser.
I think someone at MIT HAD RECENTLY got a Nobel for the original idea and prototype.
SO on the last day fopr submitting entries I got a piece of paper, sat down at an available typewriter,
pounded it out, submitted it and went on to whatever was next, possibly the two consecutive days of an
English classwhere a held the class hostage while extolling my recent reading of Darwin's "Voyage of The Beagle"
Some of my classmates may well remember that!
