September 25, 2013 - history repeats itself
For several years during the 1980's, during the warmer part of the year, I'd bring an old typewriter to Harvard Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts, set it on a table, and write. Sometimes I'd write stories for people. Other times the writing was just my daily diary/journal. I made carbon copies (using real carbon paper), saving the originals and taping the copies to the front of the table for people to read.
And now, from a story in THE AWL, I read a story about C D Hermelin who sits in Washington Square Park in New York City, with his typewriter, writing stories for people.
